Excuse me while I crawl out from under the rock I’ve been under all week.
As I mentioned in my last post, Jeff had been feeling under the weather last week so I guess it was only a matter of time until the sickness caught up with me. I had planned to take Monday as a rest day anyway, since I had rocked 5 work outs last week including running Friday and Sunday and yoga Saturday. Good thing, because by Monday night, I was definitely feeling body aches but I figured it was just because of working out. Unfortunately, I woke up Tuesday fully sick and spent the rest of the week up until now that way.
Bummer. Needless to say, I’ve taken the week off from working out, which I am disappointed for but I know its for the best. Most of this week my head was so stuffed I could barely wrap my mind around even walking on a treadmill let along anything else, so I took that as a sign. I am hoping that if I take this week and the next two days off I’ll be ready to jump back into it next week. By no means will this week knock me off my whole game here.
Meals for this week have consisted of some super healthy meals and salads, but I don’t know about you guys but often when I am sick I can’t stomach the food I usually enjoy. Fruits and veggies which I usually love just don’t appeal or sit well.
This was lunch on Wednesday, spinach, grape tomatoes, cucumber, a tbsp of hummus and some left over quinoa from a batch I made on Sunday for that extra kick of protein.
So, while I ate some yogurts with fruit and granola for breakfast:
like this one from yesterday. The usual consisted of peanut butter or almond butter with a banana on toast.
By mid-week I had given up on even trying to make and enjoy real dinners and settled with soup and grilled cheese, the old standby if you will. I discovered a brand new soup at the grocery store and loved it!
Campbell’s came out with a new 100% natural line and it tastes great! I compared the ingredients and nutrition facts to my old standby soup, Progresso Light soups. The Campbell’s has slightly more calories and fat per serving but it only has 410 mg of sodium which is really good for a canned soup and 7 grams of protein, both of which are less/more than Progresso. Other than that the ingredient lists are almost the same, both contain maltodextrin which is a natural additive that some people might not prefer to have, but Progresso does seem to contain soy protein isolate where Campbell’s does not. Overall, I’d still eat both of these brands again and again.
Is chicken soup when you are sick not the best?
Other than that I’ve been watching episode after episode of Catfish on MTV. I can’t remember the last time I sat on my couch and watched MTV as much as I have this week. Probably not since high school. But I’m loving it! Even though I feel I may be regressing. If my couch and MTV trend continues to this level into next week someone call for help.
Be back this week with our regularly scheduled program!

Liz- Hope you are feeling better this week. So much flu and bad colds going around. Soup is definitely the best when you are sick. Paul and I were still coughing, etc when we got to FL so we went out and got a rotisserie lemon garlic chicken which we ate one night then turned into really awesome soup. Every time we ate it over the next couple of days, we felt better!
Thank you! It’s just that time of year where the germs are flying free. That rotisserie lemon garlic chicken sounds delicious! I’m glad you both are feeling better! I hope you are enjoying Florida!
