Last Saturday, one of my very bestest friends, Harmony (aka my soulmate sista!) and her fiance, Josh came to visit! Last Saturday was a hot, humid, summer day which was OK with me! However, that made me literally a hot mess picking up the house and carrying groceries into the house. I wanted to make them a delicious, summer dinner- you know - me being a “food blogger” and all.
I made Jenna from Eat, Live, Run’s Black Bean Quinoa Citrus Salad which was amazing and I made so much of it that I then ate it almost every day this week for lunch or dinner. Which was just fine with me since I didn’t quite feel like cooking too much in the hot humidity, plus I’m not sure just how much healthier one can get with a dish. Hello, healthy protein! I also made Turkey Burgers with garlic sauteed spinach and a mixed greens salad.
But my favorite part? The Watermelon Sangria.
Yup. Now, I am the first to admit, these types of drinks are not really my thing. By “these types of drinks” I am referring to mixed drinks; margaritas, mojitos, martinis, the 1 million other vodka and rum combos. Blame it on my late teens – and earlier 20s but I stick to wine and beer for the most part these days.
I do, however, make excuses in the summer for sangria because, how can you not?? It’s just so refreshing and juicy and nothing says warm weather quite like sangria does.
Salud! I was in the mood for something like this last Saturday. Something that involved watermelon and white wine. So what did I do? Google searched, “white wine” and “watermelon” and a sangria recipe from Food and Wine popped up and that was my answer!
I even reported on it over on MissA where you can get the full breakdown. :) You do not want to miss this one!!
I’ll leave you with one final photo. If this doesn’t seal the deal for you, I don’t know how I can help you…
Don’t forget to check it out!
