Back with another WIAW post!
So, tonight was my first class back at Kickboxing. I did Cardio Kickboxing a few years ago and loved, loved, loved it. I have never been in such good shape as I was when I got my ass handed to me in that class once a week. I supplemented it with running a few times a week, too but wow. It was great. Then I moved, bought a house, life got crazy and I couldn’t keep up. However, now that I have a wedding coming up in a few months I really want to step it up. Hence why when I saw a Groupon deal for 10 kickboxing classes next to my gym I was all over it.
Most of today I was shaking in my black heels anticipating the ass kicking I was about to get tonight. I tried to eat smart since I knew I needed energy for tonight but didn’t want to eat too much before the class.
I made sure to load up on some carbs and protein this morning with my whole wheat english muffin and peanut butter and a banana. And black coffee, which is a given on any day. :) This is where the majority of my calories came from today. You might notice in the pic that I tend to consider peanut butter its own entrée at times. Hey, this breakfast kept me full from 8am to after 1:00 thanks to all that protein.
I lightened things up a little for lunch. Mixed greens salad, tomatoes, cucumber and 1-2 tbsp of lemon hummus for another kick of protein and some healthy fat. I still wasn’t too hungry from breakfast so this was completely enough.
Luna Bar and Coconut Green Tea. Calories: 180. Protein 7g. Doing that from memory so I hope I have those stats right. I mentioned in my last WIAW that I am not the hugest snacker and I try not to eat for the sake of eating (lately anyway) but today I knew I needed something in my system to take me through class tonight. Especially since I wouldn’t be home until later on.
When I got out of class I really wasn’t hungry. I came home, showered and felt like even though I wasn’t hungry I should probably eat something. So I mixed a can of tuna together with a 1/3 avocado, tomato and a squeeze of a lemon slice and ground pepper. I ate that with a half of a wheat pita (30 calories, there’s 60 in a whole) and now I’m super full and not wanting anything. Which is probably good but I feel a little gross.
Next time I’ll listen to my gut (literally) and do what I used to do, which is hydrate and not eat after kickboxing. Who can eat after sweating so much and working that hard? My belly is not about that.
So how did the class go? Awesome! I loved it and remembered how much I miss it. I actually felt like it went by so fast, one minute we were warming up and the next we were cooling down. Am I crazy to say I wish we went longer than 50 mins? Probably?
Anyway, I am excited for the next 5 weeks of taking this twice a week. Oh yeah and talk to me tomorrow after I feel how sore I (hope I) will be, hopefully I don’t change my tune!
